Reading Time: 3 Minutes

“Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’”
Matthew 20:25-28

The Contrast: “Among You It Will Be Different”
Jesus marked a turning point in how leadership and power are understood. In the world, power is used to dominate; in the Kingdom of God, power is transformed into service. “It will not be so among you,” Jesus said. As believers, we are called to live counter-culturally—not seeking to be served, but to serve. Service is not a sign of weakness, but of true spiritual greatness.

The Importance of Serving – John 13:15
“I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”
Jesus didn’t just teach with words but with actions. By washing His disciples’ feet, He left a deep lesson: service is an expression of love and humility. He gave us an example to follow in His steps. Serving is an intentional act that transforms hearts, breaks pride, and strengthens unity in the body of Christ.

The Calling
God doesn’t call just a few to serve—He calls everyone. Service is part of the believer’s DNA. Whether preaching, cleaning, caring, counseling, or simply being there for someone in need, every act of service holds eternal value. The call to serve is not just a task; it is a privilege. Every time we serve, we answer the Master’s call and join His mission on earth.

The Ransom: Giving My Life for Many
Jesus gave His life as a ransom for many. He held nothing back for Himself. He taught us that true service involves sacrifice, surrender, and self-giving. While we cannot save anyone as Jesus did, we can give our lives in acts of love and service that reflect His heart. Living like Christ means living to serve.

Final Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your perfect example of service. Help me to live with a humble heart, ready to serve others as You have served me. May every action I take reflect Your love and compassion. Let my life be a daily response to Your call to love, serve, and give. Amen.

Sincerely,
