Key Scripture: John 3:3
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Introduction
Many people believe that knowing the Bible, attending church, or living a moral life is enough to please God. However, Jesus taught that salvation does not depend solely on religious knowledge, but on a profound transformation that He called being “born again.”
The story of Nicodemus shows us that a person can be religious, educated, and respected, yet still need a personal encounter with Christ.
Knowledge Does Not Replace Transformation
Nicodemus was a teacher of Israel. He knew the Scriptures and held an important position within the religious community. Yet Jesus told him that he needed to be born again.
The Christian faith is not merely about knowing about God, but about knowing Him personally. Information may fill our minds, but only Christ can transform our hearts.
Supporting Scripture: John 3:7
“Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.'”
Salvation Is a Gift of God’s Grace
The new birth is not obtained through human effort or good works. It is a work of God’s grace in our lives.
The Bible teaches that we are saved by faith through the love and mercy of God.
Supporting Scriptures:
Ephesians 2:8-9
“For by grace you have been saved through faith…”
Titus 3:5
“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy…”
The Holy Spirit Works Powerfully
Jesus compared the work of the Holy Spirit to the wind. We cannot see it, but we can observe its effects.
We cannot program or control God’s work in a person’s life. The Holy Spirit convicts, transforms, and brings new life according to God’s perfect timing.
Supporting Scripture: John 3:8
“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but cannot tell where it comes from or where it goes…”
An Encounter with Jesus Changes a Life Forever
Throughout history, many people have tried to find answers solely through reason and intellect. However, when they experienced a genuine encounter with Christ, their lives were transformed.
God is still at work today. He continues to call men and women to move beyond superficial religion and enter into a true relationship with Him.
Reflection
The question is not how much you know about God, but whether you have allowed Him to transform your heart. The Lord is not merely seeking informed people, but lives surrendered to His will.
Today is a good day to draw near to Jesus, surrender your life to Him, and allow the Holy Spirit to perform the work of the new birth in you.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I recognize that I need You. Thank You because salvation is a gift of Your grace and not the result of my own merits. Today I surrender my will to You and ask You to transform my heart. Allow Your Holy Spirit to work in my life and help me live a genuine relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Sincerely, Pastor Guillermo Ayala
